Baby Lizard is one of the best spots to surf at in Australia. Baby Lizard is in Yorke Peninsula. This is exposed to reef break with consistent surf. You can come here to surf anytime of the year. The winds on the offshore of Baby Lizard is blowing from the west southwest. This is a reef break which is very comfortable because it does not get crowded no matter what time of the year. In this place however, it is best to be cautious and watch out for rocks, rips and sharks.
Direction
To reach the spot, you can drive from Marion Bay turnoff which is on the left from the town. Before, this place is a dirt road, however, now it is sealed by the council. This means, it is a sealed road which is just by the turn off. Just continue on driving down this road until you come across great big dunes. Depending on how fast you are driving, it will take you about 30 – 40 minutes to reach the next left. This is a road that will bring you to a cliff top. You have to park your car on the car park and start your long walk to the beach of Baby Lizard. You must go north with your gear towards the break. After walking for an hour, you will reach a place where the cliff will meet the beach. You can put your gear near a cave at the location. Finally, you can paddle towards the channel to reach your destination.
Reminders
Make sure you bring all your gear, equipment and other important items as you walk down the cliff, because it is a long walk back to the car if you miss some items. It is also suggested not to surf if it is low tide. This way, you will not be hit by the exposed rock. There are certain sections to the waves of the beach. If you look even further down at the beach, you will see that it has good banks. On the right of the point, you can use the rip from the point so that you can take off. Or you can just paddle for the channel if you get caught inside the point.
Atmosphere
Baby Lizard is a wonderful beach and must be respected. Yorke Peninsula is a very secluded place. It is very calm and peaceful and it is not crowded. This is an amazing place to hang out in, especially during the summer. You can even see dolphins and other fishes in this place.
